RepDB Media Use Addendum (m1.0)

Open to every Starter and Standard order, including orders placed under v1.1 and v1.2 — it grants a right the license does not cover and changes nothing else. The English text is the binding version and ships in the bundle as ADDENDUM-media.md; the German and Spanish translations below are for information.

RepDB — Media Use Addendum (m1.0)

This addendum extends the RepDB Starter and Standard licenses with the right to use the images and animation clips in the licensee’s own published media — videos, social posts, courses, presentations and thumbnails.

Applicability

RepDB offers this addendum to every licensee holding a Starter or Standard license in version v1.1 or v1.2 for the order in question. It only grants; it limits no right the license already gives, and the license is otherwise unchanged.

The licensee accepts this addendum by making use of the rights granted below — no notice to RepDB is required (§ 151 BGB). An order placed through a checkout that names this addendum accepts it at purchase.

This addendum does not apply to the free tier or to the evaluation preview, which have their own licenses.

What it adds

The licensee may use the images and animation clips in media the licensee publishes under its own brand — videos, social and short-form posts, courses and lessons, presentations, ebooks, thumbnails and cover art, and marketing for the licensee’s own products — where the assets are incorporated into the licensee’s own work rather than published as the work itself.

This applies to free and to paid, monetised media alike.

How the assets may appear

  1. In any single frame, the RepDB assets together occupy no more than 70 % of the frame area — except for the full-frame moments allowed under 2. The area of an asset is the rectangle it is rendered into, not the opaque part of the picture: a transparent clip scaled to the full frame counts as the full frame.
  2. Full-frame or near-full-frame moments are allowed for no more than a third of the running time of the piece, taken together.
  3. In a still image, a page or a slide the assets sit inside the licensee’s own layout and occupy no more than 70 % of it; the exception under 2 does not apply.
  4. The licensee’s own material accompanies them: own footage, a presenter, illustration, graphics, on-screen text, layout, or spoken narration and commentary. A plain or stock background, or a watermark, is not own material on its own.
  5. A piece may not consist substantially of the assets played one after another.
  6. Re-encoding, format conversion (for example to MP4 or GIF), cropping, resizing and colour adjustment are permitted, as they are under the license. None of them by itself makes an asset the licensee’s own work.

What it does not cover

  • Media produced for a third party’s brand — client work, agency deliveries and white-label media. Write to support@repdb.co for a separate agreement.
  • Publishing an asset as the content itself: a clip posted as the video with nothing of the licensee’s in it, or an image posted as the post, whether free or paid. That is redistribution of the raw asset in another wrapper and stays prohibited.
  • Handing the assets on as assets — templates, presets, overlay or stock packs, or any download that lets others reuse them. The license’s resale and bulk-provision rules apply unchanged.

Everything else stays as it is

All other terms of the underlying license apply unchanged — in particular resale and sublicensing, bulk provision of the dataset or image catalog, the machine-learning and generative-model restrictions, attribution, term and termination, warranty and liability, and governing law.
